The affects of mould can be extremely concerning – these include:

Respiratory infections- this can start with a cold and quickly develop into something more dangerous such as bronchitis which can even lead to pneumonia.

Allergies- moulds produce allergens, irritants and, sometimes, toxic substances. Inhaling or touching mould spores may cause an allergic reaction including sneezing, constant running nose, red eyes and skin rash. Allergic reactions can also lead to life threatening conditions.

Asthma – exposure to allergens will create a weakness to the respiratory system, especially in younger children who could have to live with the longer term consequences of asthma. In some people a mould allergy is linked to asthma and exposure causes restricted breathing and other chronic airway symptoms.
